Examples of projects in the ENERGY DEMAND bundle:

  • Kenya: Solar powered irrigation systems help Kenyan farmers adapt to changing climate conditions, with easier access to water during the dry season. This increases productivity and mitigating GHGs through decreased combustion of fossil fuels for water pumps. (402,000 tCO2e annually)

  • African and India: Micro energy LED solar lamps save the combustion of non-renewable biomass and improves indoor air quality. (330,000 tCO2e annually)

  • Nigeria, Uganda, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Cambodia, Kenya, Philippines, Rwanda: High efficiency cookstoves replace traditional cooking methods across host countries. Improvements reduce: 1) GHG emissions, 2) Non-renewable, unsustainably sourced biomass fuel, and 3) pollution from particulate matter. (Grouped projects reduce over 1,000,000+ tCO2e annually)

  • Senegal Africa: Safe drinking water disinfection and distribution systems reduce the consumption of non-renewable biomass for water boiling with related GHG emissions and deforestation. This project also improves indoor air quality.
